ID on Pants?
For those that are looking for Kaiju-sized pants to add to their wardrobe - well, I've got you covered.
If y’all haven’t received this message, then your wardrobe ain’t hitting as hard as you think it is. If you don’t have at least one DM from a random on Instagram asking you where you got your pants from, or what brand it is, then you best be going back to the drawing board and picking up some of the pieces highlighted below.
It was a question I’d leave sitting in my inbox for weeks, but I’ve done some serious growing over the last year (lol not rly) and have decided to help others as best as I can instead of continuing down this villainous path. Kinda like The Winter Soldier.
Ideally, my goal is to lead a nation of big pant enthusiasts to the promised land. What and where that land is, I do not know, but it’s there.
To give you some context, the reason why I started wearing larger trousers was due to having these Jay-Z ass legs, but a wider frame up-top. My first pair of larger trousers were these Fisherman Pants by Engineered Garments and I remember pairing them up with a pair of Air Max 180s by Nike x Comme des Garçons, but it just didn’t hit as hard as I thought it would. However, though the outfit didn’t hit, the obsession with big pants had definitely begun, and I can tell you right now - we are not slowing down.
(I did recently try on a pair straight-leg trousers by Yohji and let’s just say that photo will be added to the lost media iceberg because it will never see the light of day)
As promised, here is the list of trousers I’m currently looking at + there are additional picks below without a description, but worth a gander:
Box Pleat Trouser by Sage Nation
Ah, ol’ reliable. I’ve owned many, many pairs of pants that could’ve fit all of Pangea, but this is the pair to own. One of the most comfortable pieces in my wardrobe, the Box Pleat Trouser by Sage Nation remains a wardrobe staple for me and can easily elevate any look.
They’ve gone through a few variations with this trouser, as the original version had a joined sizing (e.g. XS/S, M/L) instead of individual sizing, and it had only a elasticized waistband which made it a bit difficult to put on. I sprained my thumb putting my first pair on, lol. Sage did make a few tweaks over the years and it now features an elasticized waistband along with a button closure and YKK zip. I highly recommend picking up a pair.
Also available here at Haven.
Pantalon with Dickies Trousers by SHINYAKOZUKA
I’ve been obsessed with Shinya’s collaboration with Dickies, as these trousers add a ton of flare literally and figuratively. As Future Present said, it’s sculptural yet suitable for everyday wear. It’s a classic Dickies fabric, using their twill fabric to create this behemoth of a pant.
Shinya needs more recognition in my opinion and there are several pieces I’d pick up if my size were available (e.g. Scottish-ish shorts). I really wish I had picked up their painted trousers + royal blue jacket. They only have two stockists outside of Asia right now - wild.

Balloon EZ Pants by Is-Ness
I’m quite surprised by how lowkey this brand is, considering they’ve been around in 2001 and even launched a side to their brand dedicated to music - Is-Ness Music. As for the trousers, I’d say they’re a good alternative to the Sage Nation pair, and they’re cheaper ($359CAD at Wallace Mercantile), comfortable, and can easily be integrated into your everyday rotation.
Wallace does have another pair in tweed that could make a wonderful addition to your fall/winter rotation, along with a beige pair. In my opinion, these should be sold out. By the looks of it, Wallace’s FW24 selection is filled with heaters, so I highly recommend taking a peek at their new arrivals when you’ve got a minute.
Brown ‘The Baker’ Trousers by TOOGOOD
I’ve been fixated with the colour brown recently and I believe it’s because my girlfriend picked up the chocolate brown Sages in my wishlist, so I’m a little jealous and trying to find a pair for myself that are similar. Enter TOOGOOD with these cute-ass trousers.
Honestly, I kinda want the full set which includes the Brown ‘The Draughtsman’ Shirt (looks like someone’s been watching some HBO House of the Dragon, LOTR middle-earth show after seeing the names for each garment) that’s currently available on SSENSE. I don’t need it, I don’t need it, I don’t need it.
There’s also a striped pair that’s quite nice, although it costs an additional $500.
Rhombus Denim by Common Divisor
I’ve only recently discovered the brand, but if you missed out on the Kiko x Levi’s jeans that sold like hot cakes, then I recommend peeking at these. I’ve found a few other options by the brand via ANNMSS, such as the Basel Triple Pleat Pants, or the Zuid Pants.
They don’t have a huge online presence, as the last article I was able to find about them was for their SS20 collection on Hypebeast. Regardless, they do have an active online shop with a bit more for you to look at. I’m definitely interested to see where this brand’s at over the next few years since I feel like they will get picked up at SSENSE within the next year or so, and if they’re still just starting out and trying to get their name out there.
Sorte Pant by Studio Nicholson
They’re perfectly constructed with the pleating lasting for ages and its silhouette is one that will make you look snatched, especially if you throw on a nicely cropped jacket. They’re made from Italian peached cotton twill. A peached cotton is a fine twill that that is brushed, but then trimmed to give it this soft, suede-like feeling.
Nick Wakeman of Studio Nicholson deserves a golden W for the work she’s accomplished with the brand, yet it’s a brand that’s still not often mentioned in North America which is incredibly disappointing. Their garments are meant for everyday wear and will last you a lifetime. The price-point can be scary, but you will justify the cost in no-time with the amount of wear they will get.
Other options worth looking into by Studio Nicholson is their latest Bosworth Wool Pant, the Ellis Pant, and their Now Denim Pant.

Circular Pants by Sillage
We’ve got a few different options here, but Sillage is definitely a brand worth looking into if you’re wanting to get anything and everything oversized unless you’re looking for pants and you’re over 6”1”. Anyone above this height reminds me of this handsome fella.
After searching through the internet, I was able to find a second-hand pair of their Corduroy Circular Trouser on Grailed, a pair on Buyee, and a pair of the Hakama Pants on Buyee as well. However, if you’re looking for a fresh pair, I recommend taking a peek at their latest Harris Tweed collaboration since they’re kinda bangin’ and might sell out soon.
Japanese Denim Pleat Jeans by Levi’s
I’ve never been a huge jeans guy after multiple failed attempts at finding the perfect pair of wide-leg ones. Finally, after years of lousy pick-ups, I’ve found the jeans I’ve always wanted and they are worth every penny. Even my partner, who keeps me in check with my spending, told me to pick these up immediately because of how good they looked.
The single front-pleat is perfect and remains intact after numerous wears, and these are stupidly comfortable. I’ve paired them up with my Piped Slippers by Lemaire and my Gardana Clogs by Plasticana, and it’s worked out beautifully so far.

Ether Pant by s.k. manor hill
For those of you that don’t know, I was an intern for the brand in 2023 and it’s shocking to see how underrated they are. Dom, the founder of the brand, is definitely one that cares deeply for this craft and has continued to get stronger in his designs each season.
From what I’ve heard during PFW in June, the collection that was shown is one of, if not the, strongest collections the brand has released and I’m genuinely excited to see where they go over the next few years. As for the pant, they have a two additional colours available - Brown and Taupe. Water repellant, made out of 100% recycled nylon, with an adjustable waist and leg openings.
It screams comfort.
(Second-Hand) Black Balloon Pants by Comme des Garçons Black
First, this one’s listed at $80USD which is already ridiculous. I’ve worn my CDG Black Balloon Pants to the goddamn ground and even wore them as a Halloween costume last weekend with a Comme des Garçons Homme Plus V-Neck Cardigan. I will never get rid of these pants.
They’re a fun addition to anyone’s wardrobe, as I doubt anyone else in your city will have a pair like this (except New York since Jacob Day has literally every pair of balloon pants you can imagine). These were my everyday pants during my stint in New York in the middle of the summer - they are that airy and comfortable. It also looks like you’ve got two Subway footlongs strapped along the outer sides of each leg.
